In the mid 1940's a Marine Institute was set up on Lock Island, near Marlow Buckinghamshire, its main focus was research into possible intelligence of marine animals.
It was already known that Dolphins could be trained, the search was on to find others with similar intelligence

It is believed that strange happenings occurred there which can not be explained.

After a flood in 1947, the highest in living memory, the Institute was abandoned very quickly.
A rumour quickly spread that an animal had escaped and was living in the weir pool

Several expeditions upstream has identified a nursery where eggs have been found
